Add a Delay Before Orders Go Into Production

Artelo allows you to set a delay between when an order is placed and when it’s automatically sent to production. This gives you a buffer period, anywhere from 3 to 48 hours, to make last-minute changes, edits, or cancellations before fulfillment begins.

Why Use a Delay?

Adding a delay to order processing can be helpful in several situations:

  • Minor Design Edits
If customers request small design tweaks (like color or text changes) in their order notes, a delay gives you time to make those adjustments without needing to set up a separate custom listing.

  • Address Updates
It’s common for customers to request a shipping address change shortly after placing their order. A delay gives you a window to make those updates before production starts.

  • Order Cancellations
Occasionally, customers reach out to cancel an order soon after placing it. A short delay can help you catch these in time and avoid unnecessary production and charges.

This is especially useful if you're in a different time zone from your customers and may not immediately see their messages.

How to Set the Delay

This setting only applies to future orders: it won’t affect orders that have already been received.

  1. Go to the My Integrations page on Artelo.

  2. Click the store you want to update.

  3. On the top right of your store's page, click Store Settings.

From here, you’ll see two options under Order Approval:

Option 1: Set an Auto-Approval Delay

Use the scrollable timeline to choose how long Artelo should wait before sending the order to production. You can select any time between 3 hours and 48 hours.

For example, set a 24-hour delay to give yourself a whole day to make design changes, check order notes, or confirm customer details.

Option 2: Require Manual Approval

Check this box if you want all orders to require manual approval before moving to production. This disables the timeline setting above, since all orders will stay on hold until manually approved.

Click Save, and you're all set.
