Which Frames Offer Mats?

Mats are optional and available for all frame sizes. If you choose to include a mat, we’ll automatically match it to the most common inner size based on the outer frame size.

Note: Mat openings are cut about 1/8" smaller than the listed size. This is a standard framing practice to ensure clean edges and proper alignment.

Frame Mat Sizes (Standard)

Each frame size has a matching bright white, removable mat with an inner window sized to fit popular print dimensions.

Offering Both Matted and Unmatted Variants

If you want to give your customers a choice between matted and unmatted versions of the same frame size, you’ll need to set up your product set to include both options.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Go to your Product Catalog page and click Create Product Set.

  2. Choose your Product Type (e.g., Individual Art Print).

  3. Select your Paper Type and Frame Type.

  4. Check both of these boxes in the Framing Options section:

    • Include Mats

    • Include Unmatted Variants

  5. Choose the frame size(s) you want to offer (e.g., 12x16).

  6. Click “Add designs to X products.”

You’ll now see two image upload areas:

Product 1: Unmatted 12x16 – Upload your regular 12x16 art file.

Product 2: Matted to 8.5x11 – Upload a new file sized to 8.5x11.

⚠️ If you upload a 12x16 file here instead, it will be heavily cropped inside the mat opening.

Important: Although your artwork is 8.5x11 inches, we print it on a 12x16-inch sheet with a white border. This extra border ensures your print sits securely inside the frame and mat without shifting.

  7. Once both images are uploaded, click Finalize Product in the top right corner.

  8. Name your product and hit Done to save it.

Coming Soon: Custom Mat Sizes

Soon, you’ll be able to request a custom mat size for your frame. Whether you're working with unique print dimensions or want a tighter or looser reveal, our custom mat feature will give you more control over the final presentation.
