Bulk Update Variant Connections is the cleanup and correction tool for existing Artelo connections. Use it when the product sets already exist, and you need to remap marketplace variants to different Artelo products without rebuilding the listing.
Like Bulk Connect Without Changes, this is a store-specific workflow. If you need to update both Shopify and Etsy listings, run the tool separately for each store.
What The Tool Does
When you run Bulk Update Variant Connections, Artelo updates which product each selected marketplace variant connects to.
For the rows you mark as Update, the tool will:
Reassign a variant from one product to another product inside an existing product set.
Update a bunch of mappings at once.
Reconnect the updated variants in the marketplace integration after the Artelo mapping changes.
On Shopify only, the flow may also:
Generate missing SKUs for connected variants.
Assign connected variants to Artelo for fulfillment.
This tool does not create a new listing structure, and it does not create new product sets for the listing. It works with existing product sets and products.
When To Use It
Use this tool when:
A listing is already connected, but one or more variant-to-product mappings are wrong.
You want to reassign variants to different products within an existing product set.
Your listings were disconnected accidentally and you'd like to reconnect them.

How to Use Bulk Update Variant Connections
Bulk Update Variant Connections is used to connect or correct marketplace variant mappings when the product sets already exist in Artelo.
This tool is especially helpful when you have already created product sets in a previous workflow and need to connect another store’s listings to those same product sets. It can also be used to fix incorrect variant connections, reconnect variants that were disconnected, or update only part of your catalog at a time.
This process does not create new product sets or rebuild your listing structure. Instead, it updates which Artelo product each existing marketplace variant is connected to.

When To Use Bulk Update Variant Connections
Use this tool when:
Your marketplace listings already exist.
Your Artelo product sets already exist.
You need to connect marketplace variants to existing Artelo products.
One or more variant connections are incorrect.
A listing or variant was accidentally disconnected.
You want to onboard or update part of your catalog in bulk.
For example, you may have already connected a set of Shopify listings using Bulk Connect Without Changes. If those same listings also exist on Etsy, you can use Bulk Update Variant Connections to connect the Etsy variants to the product sets that were already created.
This is a store-specific workflow. If you need to update both Shopify and Etsy, run the tool separately for each store.
What The Tool Does
When you run Bulk Update Variant Connections, Artelo updates the product connection for each marketplace variant you mark for update.
For the rows you process, the tool can:
Connect a marketplace variant to an existing Artelo product set.
Assign the correct Artelo product within that product set.
Update many variant mappings at once.
Reconnect updated variants through the marketplace integration.
On Shopify only, the tool may also:
Generate missing SKUs for connected variants.
Assign connected variants to Artelo for fulfillment.
The tool works with existing product sets and products. It does not create new product sets, new products, or a new listing structure.
Step 1: Generate The Workbook
Start by opening the Bulk Flows page in Artelo.
Click Bulk Update Variant Connections.
[Screenshot: Bulk Flows page]
Select the store you want to update. In this example, we are selecting an Etsy store because the Shopify listings were already connected in a previous step.
[Screenshot: Store selection screen]
Click Generate File.
Artelo will generate a workbook that includes the marketplace listings and variants from the selected store.
Download the file and open it in Excel or upload it to Google Sheets.
[Screenshot: Generated workbook opened in Google Sheets]
Step 2: Review The Workbook Tabs
The workbook includes two main tabs:
Variants
Artelo Products
The Variants tab is the working sheet. This is where you update each marketplace variant and tell Artelo which product set and product it should connect to.
The Artelo Products tab is the reference sheet. Use it to confirm the exact names of valid product sets and products.
[Screenshot: Variants tab and Artelo Products tab]
Step 3: Understand The Variants Tab
The Variants tab includes one row for each marketplace variant in the selected store.
Each row includes identifying information that helps you understand which listing and variant you are updating.
Helpful reference columns include:
Listing Image
Title
Option Values
SKU
Listing ID
Variant ID
Listing URL
Artelo URL
The most important columns to edit are:
Operation
Product Set
Product
[Screenshot: Variants tab showing Operation, Product Set, and Product columns]
The Option Values column is especially useful because it tells you which marketplace variant the row represents. For example, it may show size, frame, color, or another option from the marketplace listing.
Use this information to make sure each marketplace variant is connected to the correct Artelo product.
Step 4: Set The Operation
For each row you want Artelo to process, set the Operation column to Update.
Rows without an operation will not be processed.
[Screenshot: Operation column filled with Update]
You do not need to update every row in the file. You can use this tool for a small batch, a partial catalog update, or a full store update.
Step 5: Enter The Product Set
Next, fill in the Product Set column.
The product set tells Artelo which existing group of products this marketplace variant belongs to.
In the example from the tutorial, the product sets were already created in a previous Shopify workflow. Because the product sets used a clear naming convention, they could be copied into the workbook efficiently.
For example, if the listings were named in a consistent sequence, you may be able to copy the product set name down the sheet and adjust the number or naming pattern for each listing.
[Screenshot: Product Set column filled in]
This step can be manual, but good naming conventions make it much faster.
Step 6: Enter The Product
After choosing the product set, fill in the Product column.
The product is the specific Artelo product inside that product set that should be connected to the marketplace variant.
For example, if the marketplace variant is:
12x16 Unframed
Then you should select the matching Artelo product inside the selected product set.
Use the Artelo Products tab to confirm the exact product wording.
[Screenshot: Artelo Products tab showing product names]
Then copy the matching product name into the Product column in the Variants tab.
[Screenshot: Product column filled in]
Step 7: Use Filters To Work Faster
If you have many rows, filters can help you update the workbook more quickly.
For example, you can filter the Option Values column to show only variants that are:
12x16 Unframed
Then you can assign the matching Artelo product to all of those rows at once.
[Screenshot: Filter applied to Option Values]
After that, repeat the process for the next product selection, such as:
16x20 Unframed
18x24 Unframed
20x30 Unframed
Any other size or product option in the listing
This is useful when the listings share the same product template. If every product set contains the same product options, you can map each option value to the same product name across multiple listings.
Step 8: Check Your Work
Before uploading the workbook, review your mappings carefully.
Make sure:
Each row you want to process has Update in the Operation column.
Each variant has the correct Product Set.
Each variant has the correct Product.
The selected Product belongs to the selected Product Set.
The Option Values match the Artelo product you selected.
You are not mapping the same product to multiple variants in the same listing unless that is intentional.
[Screenshot: Completed workbook before download]
It is usually best to start with a small test batch before updating a large number of listings.
Step 9: Download The Workbook As Excel
Once the workbook is complete, download it as an Excel file.
In Google Sheets, go to:
File > Download > Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)
[Screenshot: Google Sheets download as Excel option]
Step 10: Upload The Completed Workbook
Return to Artelo and upload the completed workbook into the Bulk Update Variant Connections flow.
[Screenshot: Upload workbook screen]
If Artelo detects row-level errors, review the error sheet, fix the issues, and upload the corrected file again.
Common errors include:
Missing Operation value
Invalid Product Set
Invalid Product
Product does not belong to the selected Product Set
Incorrect formatting in required columns
Once the upload is accepted, submit the flow.
[Screenshot: Submit update button]
Step 11: Verify The Updated Connections
After the flow completes, open a few listings in Artelo to confirm that the variants are now connected correctly.
In the tutorial example, the Etsy listing originally had disconnected variants. After submitting the file, the variants were connected to the existing product set and mapped to the correct Artelo products.
[Screenshot: Before view showing disconnected variants]
[Screenshot: After view showing connected variants]
You should check several listings after the update, especially if you processed a large batch.
