In this step of the bulk connect process, we’ll assign templates and create product sets. This is where you map your existing listings to the templates you created during the preliminary setup. Once the mapping is complete and uploaded, Artelo will have what it needs to generate all of the product sets automatically. By the end of this step, each listing you’ve assigned will be paired with a fully structured product set based on the settings you set on the template.
Note: The product sets are generated at the end of the Update Listings step.
Instructions
1. Generate your Excel file
Go to the Bulk Flows page on Artelo and start the Bulk Connect Listings flow. and select the store that contains the listings you want to onboard. Only listings from the selected store will be included in this process.
Understanding each of the check box settings:
Connect using existing product sets
Check this box if you want to connect existing product sets to listings, instead of generating new ones. If you're just starting bulk onboarding, you want to leave this unchecked. This is typically used when:
You've disconnected a store and are reconnecting it to existing product sets.
You’ve already created product sets for one store (e.g., Etsy) and want to reuse them for another store (e.g., Shopify), like we do in this tutorial.
Exclude ignored listings
This will exclude any listings that have previously been marked as "Ignore" on Artelo or in an earlier bulk connect session. Use this to keep your file focused on only listings you intend to update.
Exclude inactive listings
This excludes any listings from your store that are currently inactive (e.g., drafts, paused, or expired listings). It helps keep your file clean and focused on live or active products.
Exclude connected listings
If a listing is already fully connected to Artelo with an assigned product set, checking this box will exclude it from the export. This is useful if you only want to work with listings that haven’t been connected yet.
Exclude partially connected listings
This excludes listings that are partially connected, meaning some variants are connected to products, but others are not.
Select the store that you want to connect. Note that if you're going to connect multiple stores, it doesn't matter which one you start with.
Click “Download Listings” to generate the Excel file. This file contains all your synced listings and will serve as the working document where you define which listings to update and how.
2. Fill Out the Sheet
Open the Excel file and review the listings. Each listing for the store you selected is a row in the file.
For each listing that you want to connect:
In the Operation column, enter:
Update
In the Template column, enter the name of the template you want to apply
In the Product Set Name column, enter a unique name that groups all the variants of the design together (e.g., "Sunset Print – Vertical").
Do not alter any other columns in the Excel Sheet.
Note: Rows that are left blank will not be impacted in any way.
Note: Product set names must be unique.
💡 Helpful Tips
We highly recommend going through the following steps with one listing first to familiarize yourself with the process before implementing changes across a large number of listings.
Upload the Excel file to Google Sheets for a friendlier user experience. Watch the tutorial at the top of this article for a demonstration.
Double-check your templates before applying them to avoid errors later in the flow.
Use the “Template Grouping” column in the Excel file to quickly identify which listings share the same variation structure. Listings in the same group are often best assigned to the same template.
Be consistent with your Product Set Names. Every set should represent a single design that includes multiple variants (e.g., different sizes or frames for the same print).
If you want to ignore a listing, enter:
Ignore
in the Operation column. This is useful if you sell products not fulfilled by Artelo, such as T-shirts, mugs, or stickers. Marking a listing as ignored won’t change anything about the listing. It simply marks the listing as ignored on Artelo.
3. Upload your file
Once you’ve completed and uploaded the file, Artelo will validate that everything is structured correctly. If your import file contains any errors, Artelo will let you know, and you'll need to fix them. Otherwise, after successfully uploading with no errors, click the Next button. You're now ready for the final step in this tutorial.
Note: No changes are made on Artelo or to your listings when you click next. All changes are made on the last step of this tool.
