How Shipping Labels Relate to Artelo
Artelo integrates with a third-party shipping software called Shipstation to manage and generate shipping labels efficiently for all orders, including yours. Here’s how this works:
Integration with Shipstation: All orders processed through Artelo are sent to Shipstation, where unique shipping labels are generated for each order.
Discounted Shipping Rates: By using Shipstation, we can access discounted rates from a variety of shipping carriers. This allows us to secure competitive shipping prices for your orders.
Carriers We Use: While we have access to a range of carriers through Shipstation, the most common ones we use are FedEx, UPS, and USPS.
Carrier Requirements: Different carriers have slightly different requirements regarding what must be printed on the shipping label. Shipstation automatically adjusts the label format to comply with the specific requirements of the selected carrier.
What Information is Printed on a Shipping Label
Each shipping label contains details to ensure your packages are delivered correctly. Here’s what you can expect:
Sender Information: Every shipping label will include a "ship from" address and company name.
For all your Artelo orders, the ship-from address will automatically be set to the address of one of Artelo’s production facilities.
Company Name on Labels: To ensure your customers recognize the order as coming from your store, the company name on the label will reflect the name associated with your Artelo account or the store name for integrated orders. This way, even though Artelo fulfills the order, your customers will see your store name on the package.
Name on Label: Certain carriers, such as UPS, require a name to be printed on the shipping label. For this, we use the first and last name you entered when creating your Artelo account.
Phone number: Some carriers require a phone number. Artelo a customer service phone number for this purpose as this number is used for any delivery issues the carrier runs into. This phone number is rarely used and is monitored by support staff at our production facilities.
Manual Orders: For manual orders, the company name on the label will be the default company name you’ve set on the settings page of your account.
Integrated Store Orders: For orders placed through integrated stores (e.g., Shopify, Etsy), the store name associated with the integration will be printed on the label. You can change this by updating the name of the store on the settings page of your connected store.
What if I have multiple stores connected to my account, each with a different name?
By default, we use the company name on your account as the shipping label. We then create separate company names depending on the integrations you add. Let's walk through an example of a company called "Anne's Art Store LLC" owned by "Anne Apple"
When Anne signed up for Artelo she entered her company name as "Anne's Art Store LLC".
Case 1: Anne orders samples
Anne created a sample order sent to her address. Since this is a manual order created on Artelo, the company name on the label is "Anne's Art Store LLC". If the shipping carrier requires a name on the label, the name will be "Anne Apple".
Case 2: Anne adds her Etsy store
Anne liked her samples so she decided to integrate her Etsy store with the name "ArtByAnne". Anne then connected her listings and the next day she receives her first order.
Since her first order is from the "ArtByAnne" store, the shipping label have a company name of "ArtByAnne".
Case 3: Anne edits her store name in Artelo
Anne's customer loved her prints. So much so that the customer posted a picture on Instagram of the print, which included the shipping label. Anne notices that the shipping label reads "ArtByAnne" (since Etsy doesn't allow for spaces in store names). To address this, Anne logs into Artelo, then she goes to the integrations page, and clicks view store. On the store page for ArtByAnne she clicks "Store Settings" and changes the store name from "ArtByAnne" to "Art by Anne".
The next day Anne receives another order. This time, the company name on the label reads "Art By Anne".
Case 4: Anne opens up a Shopify Store under a different brand
Sales have been growing for Anne and she decides to launch a new brand focused on nursery prints. She opens up a Shopify store called "Anne's Nursery Prints".
On Anne's first order for "Anne's Nursery Prints" the company name on the label will be "Anne's Nursery Prints".
